Printed in real wood. Finished like furniture.
The Wood Edition is printed from a filament loaded with actual wood fiber, then sanded back, hand stained and clear coated. The layer lines that every other build hides come back as grain — which means no two are the same, and none of them can be reprinted once the edition closes.
Twenty percent over the standard build at each height. Nothing is on sale yet — leave an address below and you will hear first.
A filament loaded with real wood fiber, so the part is wood through its whole thickness rather than a print with a wood-look coating.
Worked through the grits by hand until the layer lines are gone and the surface takes stain evenly, the way a piece of furniture is prepared.
Hand-brushed and wiped back. The wood fiber drinks the stain and the print lines come back as grain, so no two pieces read the same.
Sealed the way a piece of furniture is sealed — a warm satin that leaves the grain visible and the surface hard.
The short version
Why it takes longer.
A painted figure hides the printing. This one does the opposite: the surface has to be flat enough to take stain evenly, which is hand work, and the stain has to be wiped back before it sets or the grain goes muddy.
That is where the extra twenty percent goes — into sanding and finishing time, not into the material.
We are still settling the stain range and the clear coat. When it is right, the edition opens and it closes for good at 25 and 15 pieces.
